This site is the biggest load of bull. PNMs, don't take anything on here seriously. The "tier" system is an outdated way for certain greek members to feel better about themselves and has no real meaning. The so-called "top tiers" are leftover from long ago and many of them are not good chapters anymore. And some of the "low middle" or "bottom" tiers are actually getting a lot better quickly--which causes the "top tiers" to get intimidated and rate them down or accuse them of "self-ranking." PNMs, join the sorority you think you click with best. Your sisters will grow to be your best friends, and you don't want your best friends being catty social climbing witches. The greek system here is a nasty thing sometimes. We should all be better than that.

I'd just like to point out how many gpb comments are on here saying they are better than they actually are.. I'm not saying the girls aren't nice or aren't smart or don't have fun, I'm just saying that if a girl is continuously getting cut, she will pref at gpb, sdt, and sss. And that's the truth.

seriously thank you for posting this. I have nothing against those three sororities, but Gamma Phi has been posting religiously on this site and that is the truth... The three sororities that people end up in if they've been cut are generally those three.

girls in every sorority pref at a wide range of other houses, regardless of where they end up. It's certainly not true that EVERYONE who gets dropped from other houses prefs at those three, but generally the girls who take the biggest cuts end up with those three houses at the end... aka, why Gamma Phi got a 57 person pledge class with the guaranteed bid system.. because most people who get cut from other houses end up getting called back there

Wtf this is stupid because this thread was started in 2012 back when 3/4 of the current UVA student body was still in high school. Things change honey. It's sad that you care about rankings enough to dig up this old one

Top 1: Kappa/Theta - Kappas aren't too bad but everyone hates Thetas unless you are a Theta. Both only rush you if you're rich
Top 2: Pi Phi/Tri Delt - don't focus on money as much but are still more stuck up. A lot of Pi Phis are actually hella weird though and both of these pledge classes usually don't get along with each other
Upper mid: A Phi/DG - A Phi basically only rushes you based on looks or if your sister is in A phi. DG sucks this year because half their pledge class is legacies so they all hate each other but they'll still always be known as upper mid
Mid - Zeta/AXO/DZ - in that order. Zeta is a mix of a lot of different girls but they're all really fun. The pledge class this year is great but the one last year lost a lot of girls. AXO girls are fun pretty and kind of edgy and don't really care about philanthropy. DZ girls are hit or miss but most of them are hot and fun
Lower Mid - KD/Chi O/SK - in that order. KD is either super sweet girls or super introverted. Chi O has the rep of being religious but there are some cool girls in it. SK is probably the only sorority that doesn't have a stereotype, they're just kind of there. None of these sororitys go out that much.
Low 1: ADPi: some cool girls but don't go out much
Low 2: Tri Sig/Gamma Phi: same as ADPi but just lower in rank
Low 3: SDT: usually girls only rush SDT if they really want to be in a sorority but can't get in anywhere else

First off, why did you go so far back to dig up this thread? It has a lot of really old, inaccurate info. Here's what I think about your post tho
Why are Kappa and Theta still considered top if the general consensus is that they rush based only on money and the girls kinda suck?

The religious reputation that Chi O has is very true, but too many people act like that's a negative thing. It's just more about what you want from a sorority.
I'd put ADPi and Tri Sig together because they seem to go out and be more social than the next two (although GPB is definitely still above SDT)

this is the traditional ranking (ranking also along each line, but there are only small changes bw the sororities on the same line) based on exclusivity. The fact is, no matter how many people despise the company of kappas and thetas, girls will still accept a bid from one of those two over another sorority.
IMHO, this ranking is a little outdated.
OVERRATED SORORITIES:
piphi - traditionally top tier, but they no longer fit in with kappa, theta and tridelt. I still love piphi - they are one of the most well-liked sororities at UVA, and they are very down-to-earth. they just aren't made out of the same stuff as the other top tier houses.
zeta - while aphis and thetas are also catty and party hard, they still hold themselves to a higher standard than do zetas. I would go so far to say that they might better fit in on the next tier down with xo and axo. I honestly couldn't tell you the difference between zetas and chi os and a chi o's in a crowd of people.

let me explain... i agree that piphi doesn't fit in at the top with kkg, kat, and ddd. I think they fit in better w dg and aphi, they seem to be a quirkier version of those two as tridelt seems a quirkier version of kappa and theta.
I also agree zeta's schtick (unfriendly and hard partiers) is getting old, and they cross-rushed with xo's and axo's more this year, which is why i put them together. I think it's funny because chi o and zeta couldn't be more different from one another in terms of personality, but their girls are starting to look more and more the same.

I'd move aphi after piphi, move dg down to where dz is, put gammaphi with sdt, and put tri sig with adpi

From an 80's fraternity brother...not much has changed, but the most annoying seem to have become more annoying..the best are just cool, nice and seem to respect each other. And are fun at mixers.
