my advise for pnms

by: Advise

If you're on this site trying to gauge what each chapter is like, try to forget all that when you go through. It helps to be familiar with the chapters to an extent, but everything on here is 100% subjective and not representative of the chapters or what people actually think of them. When you go through a house, focus on how you felt there and the conversations you had, not what reputation you think they have. Recruitment is about finding a place you like and vibe in - only your opinion matters in this process, not the opinion of one random anyonymous person on here.

I agree 100% THESE ARE THE CONVOS that should be on this site. less bashing more meaningful tips on what being in a sisterhood means. Being in a sorority isn't about being in a tier or whatever, its about finding girls who you connect with and feel comfortable with. EVERY sorority has a negative stereotype that is NEVER 100% accurate. trust that but also take everything with a grain of salt. beyond college no one gives a dam about what sorority you were in, and in reality majority of people at UVA dont care either. your greek life experience depends on what you yourself are looking for. THERE IS NO ONE TYPE, so make sure you are making decisions because they FEEL right to you. not because you are wanting to impress people, or because it seems cooler if you are in one sorority over the other. surround yourself by people who make you feel good, and get off this site ASAP. believe me.

This is how bottom tiers recruit. The truth is you will be judged by the letters you wear whether you are a guy or a girl. If you are not 100% proud to wear those letters then don't do it.

actually this is how every sorority that isn't "top tier" recruits. The rest of us are more interested in finding girls that we fit with than the made up rankings

So what are you doing on Greek Rank? This site exists because tiers are important. If no one cared about tiers this site would go away. The reality is girls join bottom tiers because they are dropped from the higher tiers. No one joins a bottom tier by choice. Just doesn't happen.

part of this site is sharing what the girls in each house are actually like, but tiers are also a big part of it. I'm not claiming the tiers aren't significant, but many girls care more about finding the right group of girls during rush. As someone from a typically middle tier house, I couldn't care less who is ranked above me or below me. I care about the friendships I've gained by finding the right house for me

My point is that no one BY CHOICE chooses a lower tier over a higher tier. I'm quite confident that the final rankings for 99% of girls is ranked by tier. That's why the top tiers USUALLY make quota and the bottom tiers don't. There might be some scrambling and snap bids but that's just fallout from the matching process.

It's advice, not advise. Unless you're from Kentucky.

or maybe because a sorority is more than just its ranking? Like I understand that ranking is important, I'm in a middle tier sorority, but it's not everything. Would you rather be in a sorority that you feel at home in or another one just because it's ranked higher? If you'd choose the latter, you're probably more likely to drop out of your sorority within like the first semester

We have heard EVERY DAY how we need to feel "at home" yet now I have a bunch of friends who are dropping out because the sororities where they felt most "at home" cut them.

We get it, it's been pounded into us from day one. Too bad the system doesn't seem to work for a lot of girls. So please, enough with the "at home" bull s#%@.
