theta/kappa?
by: firstyearso maybe i'm missing something, but why is theta and kappa ranked the top tiers if they supposedly are a bad group of girls? (mostly theta) I've heard people really hate them and i'm confused why they'd be ranked so high if they're known to be mean and spoiled?

Tiers have nothing to do with being nice, smart, hot, or involved. Top tiers get to pick the pledges they want. Bottom tiers get picked by the leftover pledges not selected. With middle tiers it's a little of both, which is why the sororitys compete for the "top middle" girls.
It's about being selective. There is prestige that comes with being a Kappa, Theta, Tri Delt or Pi Phi. Prestige goes down as you move down tiers.
All the sororitys have great girls and not so great girls. Formal recruitment is a weird process and it's hard to really get to know someone. Girls definitely fall through the cracks but for most, it seems to work.
