is pi phi really top tier?

At least pi phi has commonality. Aphi only cares about social climbing and their rush is based on stealing girls from theta and kappa. It creates this weird mix of girls with little in common but looks.

Pi Phi are the least sororityty so they appeal to a certain type of girl. They are selective when it comes to that type. An A Phi would not feel at home at Pi Phi and vice versa. Different strokes for different folks. But I think membership in Thursdays keeps them at the top.

Usually one of the houses most girls want to return to so I'm assuming its very selective. Personally, i think they're top just because of the girls. Pi phis have a rep for being fun/nice and very involved which is something theta/kappa/tridelt cant really say. If you think top=money and connections, then no. If you think top=quality people/redeemable qualities, then yes. Just depends on who you ask.

do they dirty rush?/ what exactly is dirty rushing? inviting a PNM out and stuff?

Dirty rushing is promising a bid outside the formal recruitment process. Contacting any PNM outside of the formal process is not allowed. There are many gray areas such as inviting a friend from home to visit you at your sorority house or meeting a new friend for coffee and talking about some sorority event.

so if a girl has been asking me out for coffee/lunch regularly is that dirty rushing or are parties/things with alcohol more "offensive" regarding the rules against dirty rushing

It's tricky, especially if you're a first year. One of the downsides of spring recruitment. But the point of sisterhood is finding kindred spirits, which means if you like this girl you will probably like her sorority. As long as she doesn't promise you special treatment with regards to recruitment I think you're ok.

Gotta agree with the person above. Pi Phi considers themselves top tier, but no one else does. They definitely aren't as selective as the top are
