bid day question..

hey guys. can you explain and give a run down of how bid day works? I'm honestly just really curious. (for sororities)
As a 2nd year, I've heard all the sororitys wait outside mem gym and the girls inside mem, open their bid cards with a shirt and run outside? Or do you have to like officially accept the bid first? And how do you get the shirt without opening the envelope first?
Sorry it's such a weird quesiton, i've honestly just been curious. I assumed all schools did it the same.

Basically you open your bid card and all around the edges of mem gym are big signs for each sorority with boxes of t shirts in front of them, when you open your bid card you run to the sign and grab a shirt and then wait for your new sorority to be "released" from mem gym and then you run outside to nameless to meet your new sisters. By running out to meet the girls you are accepting the bid, but that doesn't mean you can't drop before initiation
