delayed recruitment

I didn't mind delayed recruitment as much as I minded having to come back early from Christmas break. Hopefully that was a failed experiment. Girls who were cut early were crying all over the place and then were stuck watching everyone else rush. A lot of girls left but some were stuck on grounds with no other distractions. What a fiasco.

There's pros and cons to each. You listed the cons already. I think the pros outweigh--if girls rush before class even starts basically their only friends are girls in their sorority. Because we do it later people live with people in different sororities second year and build other friendships. I think it makes the Greek/non Greek community closer.

Rushing second semester also allows first years to get a handle on balancing classes and socializing. They learn more about the University and other activities, not to the detriment of Greek life as it can be in addition to it. I always thought rushing first semester creates tunnel vision and prevents students from understanding and embracing college life as a whole.

I much preferred rushing second semester since I met so many girls outside of my sorority that i may not have met otherwise, the only thing I didin't like was the prevalence of dirty rushing (it is there), but that might have been a problem no matter what, but I feel like it really mattered about knowing the right people

Is this going to get changed?

Are girls going to have to cut their Christmas breaks short again? That was the worst.

Second semester recruitment just means that recruitment goes on all semester. Girls have so much pressure knowing that they're being evaluated all semester that it makes them much less successful than they would be if recruitment were already over and they could just have fun.
