rush 2016??
by: concerned tigerNot sure what happened this year but rush this year was AWFUL. So many amazing girls got cut the first night and eventually dropped. Chapters are making big mistakes keeping girls just because they are legacies. Honestly the Memphis Greek system is taking a taking a huge loss this year

I was told by multiple gamma chis that it was about "numbers" 50 or so more girls rushed so they thought they had to cut. What they don't realize is that by making the chapters larger so can get involved more and make a stronger sisterhood. Lots of sweet and motivated girls dropped because of the unnecessary cuts.

I know a lot of chapters are required to keep legacies, even if they don't click with each other. So that's not really an option for some sororities.
Also, if girls are dropping, it's on them, not Pan. They definitely could have ended up in an amazing house, even if it wasn't their original choice.

Pan gives us the number of girls we are allowed to take. We cannot take more than they allow us. My sorority dropped a legacy. Yes, they are automatically high on the list but they can still be dropped. A lot of these girls think they belong in top tier sororities and just simply don't. That's their own fault that they can't understand they got dropped for a reason. If they had below a 3.0 (which over half did!!!!!!) top houses will drop you. That's just how it is. If you act uninterested in the conversation you're having, you'll get dropped. My sorority had an awesome rush and got a bunch of awesome girls.

I had a 3.3 and got cut from 3 houses the first night... all the girls I talked to seemed really sweet and genuinely were nice but it's honestly about who you know beforehand and everyone told us we didn't need rec letters... you NEED rec letters.

Many Gamma Chi's had to talk to their girls because there were definitely some attitude issues this years. Girls were expecting rush to happen one way and when it didn't they would walk into houses and were rude. Many girls told some sororities on night two that they didn't want to be there. Note to future girls rushing: ACT INTERESTED & DO NOT BE RUDE. Walking into a house on Night 1 or Night 2 and acting rude/uninterested WILL get you CUT! We don't want those type of people. And from what I hear, there were A LOT of attitude problems this year.
