frats to rush
by: hican someone give me a rundown of each frat pros and cons looking to rush next semester
#1 by: Pros
for the top houses
Pi Kapp and Kap Sig - Have the most brothers and some of the most consistent parties. Pretty respected among greek life. Cons - some say little too big for all the brothers to be really close you’ll only really be super close with pledge class.
Phi Sig - alpha chapter (phi sig was founded at umass and is a bigger national chapter. Good guys and good connections
Cons - super selective, hard pledge process,
outdoor parties get shut down a lot
Theta chi - Hands down best parties on campus when they do throw which is inconsistent and only when there’s good weather. Probably the most well known on and outside of campus. Decent guys semi respected in greek life
Cons - people outside of greek life will look at you sideways and was on probation last semester so UMass may be watching them closely for trouble.

Mid Houses
ASig - UMass resident “animal house”. They throw the most and have become one of the better party house and have a good amount of brothers
Cons - parties are the only thing going for them and they’re at serious risk of losing their house soon which may cause them to die out
SigChi - Quality guys. pretty well known and respected across campus and greek life even considering they don’t have a lettered house parties are alright
Cons - no lettered house and next to a sig
TKE - super up and coming with a lot of satellite houses and good recruitment every semester. Throw decent parties consistently and brothers are pretty close. Mixed bag of guys so it’s not just talking to 20 versions of the same guy.
Con’s- no lettered house and a little less respected than previous mentioned frats
DChi - well located well established a lot like tke but pretty stagnant where they are. A little more selective
cons, one good satilite and have been pretty stagnant for a bit
Sig Ep - Smart and quality guys and believe it or not one of the oldest chapters on campus. hit a rough patch from what i’ve heard but they’re rebuilding so if you wanna get in on building something back up they’re your people
cons - far away satilite and have been in decline for the last couple semesters.

Bottom houses
AXP - very unique guys. I respect them a lot for knowing their crowd and sticking to their guns. unapologetically themselves reguardless of ranking. really good satellite considering.
cons - can be the butt of the jokes in greek life sometimes because of some unique theme choices and the crowd they bring in.
Phi Delt - Newest frat. they’re building up pretty decently and bring in a crowd on occasion
cons - become known on campus as the cringiest frat and spam yik yak / this site but almost a guaranteed bid if you rush
DSP - pretty tight knit group of guys all parties are invite only and they pack their place when they do throw don’t see them a lot on campus but they’re building up slowly but steadily.
cons - one of the smallest chapters and further satilites.

that’s a really good breakdown of each frat some things I would add however
-pike is coming in fall 24 it is guaranteed they will get back their house meaning a sig has no where to go
- sig ep used to have a lettered house and was on pair with phi sig and pi kap until they lost their house
-sig ep was on the rise for a while until they lost the momentum now they’re trying to survive

They lost it back in 2013 it was where Olympia place is now
They had almost 50 brothers 2 years ago and was the largest chapter on campus without a lettered house however new e board came in and wasn’t effective as the old one therefore they didn’t recurit well and had a lot of people drop as well
