open parties
by: :Pi'm going to be entering as a freshman this year and am sorta confused on how some parts of greek life here. i don't plan on joining a sorority but definitely still wanna party so i was wondering if all frats have open parties, how often they are, and if gdi girls are usually able to get in without a problem or if preference is given to sorority girls

Most frats have opens all the time, with Theta Chi, Phi Sig (The two brick houses in the center of campus) and Alpha Sig (Phillips St) having opens all the time as the closest frats to campus. You should be able to get in just fine as long as you go before the parties start to fill up (Around 11:30). Sorority girls are basically given exceptions at frats, where even if the houses are full, they'll be allowed in, as opposed to geed girls.

Best advice I can give you if you want to get in every time is go to each frat and find one where you feel safe and feel comfortable with the brothers and then if you continue to go there for most parties all the brothers will get to know you and give you a free pass no matter the circumstance. That goes for soroiry girls and non-sorority girls alike. And then as a girl you can always go to any party anyway but you’ll have a “home base” pretty much.
