is igu as bad as this site makes it seem?

Greek rank is a toxic wasteland that gives a muddied interpretation of greek life at UMass. Instead, you should make a decision based on personal experience by rushing. And no, IGU is pretty chill and not looked down upon in the real world.

Greekrank is a joke, and the sorority/fraternity ranking pages are even bigger jokes as anyone can post on them. The percentage rankings you see don't matter.

Rush and decide on which sorority fits you best. That's what Rush week is all about. Maybe it's IGU, maybe it's another sorority. UMass sororitys generally aren't toooooo uptight (With the exception of KKG and maybe SK, who are more-Southern type sororitys).

IGU is not looked down upon, but they are still considered a low tier sorority when it comes to actually comparing them to others like SK.

They’re just kind of known as the sorority for your not that typical sorority girl because they’re not a typical sorority. Definitely don’t have the most hot girls or anything but I would probably still rank them above Tri-Sig and AXO as far as complete sorority functions go. Also have parties at there house every once in a while and it’s a pretty unique environment that’s different because they’re the only sorority that can.

A lot of girls posting here beating around the bush. Reality is that IGU is ranked last only because they have the least attractive girls. That's it. Still very nice/chill and laid back, just ranked last based on attractiveness.

IGU has the highest ranking here because the sisters actually go out of their way to give themselves a good ranking anonymously. in reality, they're very cliquey, really fake to each other, and don't really care about their philanthropy. sure they'll do like 3 events, but they only care when it comes around to it. although the sorority is a big hot mess, the good part about it is that they'll take just about anyone which means that if you feel like you wont get anywhere u can get into IGU. plus their parties are great and even tho the girls can be shady, they really know how to get down and party hard. another thing, im not sure why but a lot of the sisters hook up. like its kinda weird. one second you're chanting sisterhood songs and another your munching on each others kitty cats. aside from alllll of that, if you love partying, having your own house, making your own rules and dont mind the rest then iGU would be a good fit. i know a lot of the frats dont vibe with igu but i know we have a great time in mixers with them so we know the real deal

IGU has had its ups and downs over time but they have been getting better and better in recent years so don't let greek rank trolls turn you off. You really have to experience sororities for your self. Take the time to do research outside of this site and explore sororities you're interested in by their philanthropys, webpages and actual social media. Greek rank isn't credible all the time as you can tell by all the crazy spam hate towards AXO. All of the sororities at UMass have something great to offer to the greek community.

although they are not know to be the best looking sorority they are the one of the more fun ones to mix with. Throw rangers in they’re house and aren’t stuck up.

greek rank posts are honestly from people basing them on past reputations. Theyre pledge classes keep getting hotter and they can throw down at their house. most frats will mix with them especially because if their suspended they can host them at their house. they go nuts with booze and while idk what its like among the girls they are definitely a fun and rowdy crowd that love to turn up and go hard
