curious about the fraternities

by:

This fall I’ll be coming in as a transfer student and was hoping to rush. I was just curious about what some of the fraternities are like and if any are known for anything? Mostly just looking for some genuine guys with a respectable name. Also don’t mind the pledge process, but I don’t want to end up in the hospital nor do I want to fail my classes as a result. Heard Pi Kappa Phi were pretty chill, but dont have any firsthand experience. Thanks in advance for any input/advice.

Pike paying to remove bad reviews that say they're suspended. Classic. Really getting ridiculous at this point as that review was on point and was posted just yesterday, thus implying that it was removed via someone paying.

Damn I should have saved it somewhere. I also tried to not be negative to anyone in particular but still not close to the first time I’ve had a post removed from this site

Post it again please. Have Pike spend some more money on removing bad reviews.

I should give you a bid for coming on to Greek rank to look at fraternities to see what tier they are. You'd fit in great in our pledge program, which entails 24 hrs a week of mandatory self ranking, as any respectable pledge program would do.

Also, are there any that are cheaper than the others? Not financially blessed rn lol

For sure. Out of the good ones, Alpha Sig comes to mind. Compared to something like Theta Chi, which charges $2k+ a semester (Which is actually mid-tier compared to what you would be charged at Big10 schools, but way higher than most charge here), Alpha Sig, from what I've heard, charges a fraction of that.

Pi Kappa Phi doesn't charge too much, and Phi Sig is sorta mid tier. But Alpha Sig is definitely the cheapest on campus (Although that does not translate to bad quality).

While the expense of dues is can range a lot, the treasurer of a fraternity will be able to make a payment plan / reduce dues if you talk to them about your problem.

Don't be tempted to join a fraternity because it is cheaper. Join if you like the people in the fraternity and would fit in. The cost of dues should be something you can work out with the treasurer and not affect your decision too much.

That's a mixed answer. While the treasurer certainly can work something out, it's not like a higher charging fraternity will suddenly drop dues down to a level akin to that of the lower levels; it just doesn't make sense from a financial point of view. As a result, there definitely are cheaper/cheapest options out there. That being said, yea, the treasurer and person in question can definitely work something out as long as the person approaches the treasurer/president of the chapter.
