fraternity recomendations
by: Andrew
So I'm an incoming freshman and I'm open to the idea of joining a fraternity. I've heard that there is a ton of pros of joining one such as connections for employment, improved social life in college, and most importantly the brotherhood. I had a close knit group of guys back in high school and I really want that camaraderie going into college. Since I have no clue what greek life is like at UMass, I was wondering if you guys can recommend a few so I could rush them in the fall? Anyways, here are some things about me
- Big Nerd. Love gaming, super heros, cartoons (not anime tho), memes (ugandan knuckles, my spaghet etc..) and movies. Not sure if being political counts too but I'm that as well.
- I'm not that much of a jock. I do play pick up bball at the gym, bodybuild and follow sports a ton.
- Def not a douche (saying that in the least offensive way possible) but I do like to party, drink, and smoke.
- I'm wicked silly once I show my true colors.
I don't care if the fraternity I join is considered a 'bottom tier' frat. I want to join an organization full of like mind people who I can vibe with. Thanks to everyone in advance and I'll hopefully see everyone in the fall :)

Sounds like you'd fit right into Pi Kappa Phi. They're sorta bottom tier, but many of them fit the type of person that you described as yourself.
From what I've heard, rushing and the latter process is super easy over at Pi Kapp. Don't confuse them with Pi Kappa Alpha (Pike) though, as Pike is basically the opposite of what Pi Kappa Phi is.
There are other frats that also fit this mold, but they're irrelevant to actual Greek life, so I wouldn't recommend joining them, as you at least wanna be a part of the overall community.
