rushes: don't pick a frat/sorority based off greek ran

Here is a list of reasons why you shouldn't choose a Greek organization based on Greek rank.
1. Self ranking
More so an issue with sororities but also happens with fraternities. Often times rankings are very skewed because of self ranks. This is basically exactly what it sounds like; someone from that Frat/sorority ranks their own Greek organization with the intent of boosting its rankings. These are fairly easy to spot for someone who uses the site often but to the newb they can be decieving. Keep in mind these rankings are anonymous and can be repeated by the same user.
2. Haters
Many of the negative rankings on this site are because of a personal vendetta someone has for that particular Greek organization. This is a bit easier to spot because truly horrible f/sororitys will have mostly bad reviews. Nonetheless know that this is common practice and an easy way to slander a competitors reputation.
3. Everybody's different
Everyone is looking for something different by joining a Greek organization. Some people do it for the parties, some for the networking etc. All of the umass fraternities are very different and the only way you will know which one is right is by rushing them all.
How to find the right frat/sorority:
Join each rush group on Facebook and plan Out your nights so you can hit them all during rush week. This will help you get a sense of all of them and then you can start narrowing down as you get into the later part of rush. college is all about trying new things!
