if ranks were just based on gpa

by:

So these are the GPA ranks from last spring for sororities. I just thought it was interesting to see houses that are considered "bottom" closer to the top of the list and vice versa. It's an interesting perspective to look at house ranks solely based on GPA. These do not at all make one house better than the other. It's not the only part of what makes a house strong.

1. Chi O
2. Theta
3. G Phi
4. Pi Phi
5. Alpha Chi
6. ADPi
7. KKG
8. Kappa Delta
9. Tri Delt
10. Sigma Kappa
11. DG
12. AGD

AXO, ADPi, Tri Delt, and AGD all improved the most since the last report. Great job ladies!

This is an old report from spring 2014 semester. 2014 fall semester will be different. Most of these gpa's are less than .05 difference and piphi and axo have the exact same so there should be a tie up there. Whoever thinks it's necessary to rank girls in this manner is surely from one of the higher gpa houses. This isn't necessary cuz it's easy to see this was not posted to boost anyone but to further an agenda.

High GPA is one dimensional and doesn't mean anything. There are girls in AGD with 4.0 and girls in Chio with 3.0. Stop making this an issue. Just because you were born smart it doesn't make you better than someone who has to work hard for good grades.

GPA matters a lot. Sorry the person above either doesn't realize it or is being disingenuous. Many houses drop girls the first day if they don't meet a certain GPA. Houses compete for the honor of placing first in grades because (obviously) that's really why we're here.

GPA only matters to CHIO maybe but not the real world. Having a strong agreeable personality and being a hard worker is 10 times more important than a 4.0 sorry

GPA matters to a point. If you can maintain above a 3.0 in college you're doing well. Anything above that is not going to get you hired first. Honestly some of the weirdest people I have ever met have been super smart.

I somewhat agree with this. GPA is important to every house on campus, that's part of the reason why we have mandatory study hours and why we're pressured to make good grades every year. Every house at this school wants to have the highest GPA every semester. Don't kid yourself and act like no one in Greek life cares about GPA because everyone does.

Also, during recruitment girls with the lowest GPAs are always the first to go, this is true. However, this is at the beginning of recruitment, before houses get to know PNMs on a more personal basis. So basically if you don't have a high enough GPA you don't have a chance, but if you do have a high enough GPA you need to also have a great personality and be able to get along well with people because a high GPA alone won't do it.

You're completely missing the point. Yes, a gpa of a certain number is necessary, but having the highest gpa isn't the most important. What I'm saying is having a 4.0 does not make you better, and does not necessarily increase your chance of success in the real world, which ultimately is where we all end up living. No one I repeat no one after college, will care if your sorority had the highest gpa. In fact, most won't care if you were in a sorority at all.
It's great during college for sisterhood and a sense of belonging and community but putting such a high emphasis on having the highest gpa is just shallow, as there are WAY more important qualities to have as a woman.
Yes, gpa matters to a certain point, but after that, it's irrelevant.

Anyone that says that grades aren't important is just justifying her house's low grades. If you've ever applied for graduate school, honors and awards, fellowships, internships, medical school, law school, nursing school, etc., you have a better chance with better grades. That's not to say that someone with less than perfect grades has no chance, but grades are very important.

You'll notice that the girls with the lowest grades are the first ones released during recruitment. The girls in the top houses get the girls with the best grades. It doesn't make their souls better, but it does make them more desirable to pnms.

FALSE. There are MANY 4.0 girls in each and every house. Stop trying to put yourself on some pedestal your conceitedness is disgusting. Plus, in the real world having the highest GPA doesn't mean jack. Give me someone with personality, drive, work ethic, street smarts and COMMON SENSE which most of you girls who claim to be the best are completely lacking in. Jesus have some humility no wonder everyone hates you!

Girls with drive and work ethic have great grades.

And personality/common sense and good grades/high rank are not mutually exclusive like you seem to think.

You are a little bit bitter and weird in my opinion.

Never said they were. Fact is the only girls that say high grades somehow makes you better than everyone else are one dimensional and socially awkward girls who have nothing else going for them, girls such as yourself.

Not all girls with drive and work ethic have good grades, not even close. You are so out of touch with reality. Lots of girls weren't born with the natural ability to do well on tests or maybe they don't have the best test files like you do but I would want those with drive and work ethic in my corner EVERY SINGLE TIME over a one-dimensional girl with only a high GPA.

I know you like to think highest GPA equals best/most popular but you are so wrong. Your immature thinking and closed mindedness is really sad. You'll find out soon enough though lol

HILARIOUS! What a stupid attempt at justifying a house's bad showing in academics.

Truth is that the top houses have the top grades. Sorry if you want to pretend otherwise

I agree, but it's still competitive. Every house tries to be the top house every semester. My house went down last semester and this semester there was definitely a lot more pressure on us to do well.

This is NOT a current list. The current list is as follows:
1. Chio
2. Theta
3. Gphi
4 KKG
5. KD
6. ADpi
7.piphi
8. achio
9. tridelta
10. sk
11. DG
12. AGD

Huge drop for piphi which was expected due to the horrible pledge class this year where GPA was not considered. KD took a big jump to 5th but everyone else mostly stayed the same.

by: okay...

Calm down about pi phi, just because they had a worse than usual pledge class this year doesn't mean everyone was expecting a huge gpa drop. Also, no one really cares about this list except for the top 3 which is always the same: Chi O, Theta, and G Phi in some kind of order.

Top 3 are top 3 regardless of semester. In grades and in rank.

By: top 3
by: gpa

Obviously not, since the top 3 changes every semester. What are you smoking?

The top ranked houses don't change much. I'd say Chi O, GPhi, and KAT have been top 3 for pretty much forever.
