how hard is it to get a bid into a sorority with 3

I'll be going to KU next year and i plan to rush a sorority. Currently I have a 2.8 unweighted GPA but I am determined to get it up by the end of my senior year to at least a 3.0, hopefully higher. How good are my chances of getting a bid if it's a 3.0? I'm friends with many girls currently in houses, I was super involved in high school and I have the stereotypical look of a sorority girl

Not good. Most houses have an automatic cut of at least 3.2. It's an international requirement for most houses so there's no exceptions.

but then why does it say that it's suggested that you have a 3.0?

Many houses are even higher than that for a cutoff. Panhellenic has a minimum to enter recruitment, but all houses set their own standards. If you can't do at least that well in high school where you have fewer activities and live at home, sororities know that you will do worse when you live away and have every possible distraction in the world.

It really depends. A 3.0 is minimum for some houses but you can have lower than that if you know girls already in the house you want. Having connections is way more important.

i do know a lot of girls in a variety of the houses..that makes me feel a lot better

I came in with a fairly low gpa and knew absolutely no girls in houses previously but had a pretty good rush! Don't stress!

Just go through rush since you know a lot of girls already. Look at PiPhi, they took some of the dumbest girls in recent history just because they had connections. NOT saying you are dumb, but you get it.
