junior formal rush
by: CuriousSo do any houses take Juniors during formal? Or is someone who is interested and older just out of luck?

Yes formal rush is hell, but that shouldn't stop you if you really want to go greek. The only thing that sometimes stops a junior from going greek is she is put in a pledge class with mostly freshman and sometimes girls don't want to do that. But yes you get all the benefits of the sorority otherwise. I say why not rush? You can chalk it up to experience either way.

I went through formal rush this past year and I was older. I was a transfer student from a junior college so I didn't have a chance like the "normal girls" until I came to KU. My thought was if I don't try, I'll never know what would of happened. I ended up getting into a great house and I'm happy I tried!

There are a LOT of reasons why a girl doesn't rush as a freshman and being a transfer is one of them. Those nasty girls that would call someone in your situation not normal are a stain on all the nice girls. I say go ahead and rush why not. Any house worth being in is going to consider you, and any house that excludes you just bc you're a junior you don't want to be in that house anyway

Yes, try it and whatever happens, happens. You only go to college once in your life and I always say do whatever you can when you get the chance because this part of your life will not happen again. If you don't get a bid it just means you were destined to do something else.

It's on the recruitment website. Not only to upperclassmen, but to anyone who goes through recruitment. 3.0 is generally the cut-off GPA when initially reviewing PNMs, so it's your best bet to have above that to be able to "maximize your options."
"...if you participate in the Preference round (the last round of recruitment) and you maximize your options when you rank the chapters you visited that night, we will guarantee that you will become a member of one of those chapters."

I appreciate it, and yeah, I didn't quite know what greek life was about until this past semester. While I am very interested in greek life and would try to be active and a good member, I know formal rush is hell and I really don't want to put myself through that if I dont have a chance.
