out of state

Honestly how hard is it to rush if you're from out of state?

its just a huge bonus if you're from op and are friends already with girls in the houses. they always get their friends first… only some sororities

True, it's very rare for someone to get in a popular house unless you already have friends there. Really sad but true. In fact, even if you're in state you still have the same issue.

Cause most of the houses are all friends from the same highschools. One of the worst things about recruitment is this very issue. It's a shame cause a very beautiful smart girl who is very active will not get a bid because she is unknown. Anyone who says this isn't true all you have to do is look at the girls in the houses. Really truly does suck for OOS girls who have a lot to offer. It's very unfair.

I got into a great house and had a full schedule during rush all week, and know no one coming into rush. If you have good social skills, good grades, and have a somewhat put together exterior, you're golden. Trust me.

Your experience is unusual though. There are lots of girls that have good social skills, grades and cute that didn't get into the house they wanted because they didn't have friends in the house.

I saw bid lists from fall, and every chapter took around 50-55% Kansas women. KU has a ton of out of state girls....and they get into every sorority on campus.

Yes they do take out of state girls but it's a lot less likely, and if you want a house that is considered "popular" you won't get in unless you have friends already in there. A house isn't going to take a random out of stater when their own members have friends wanting in. You MIGHT if there is room left over but it's not the norm.

It's easier for girls who have friends in a house to get in, but out of staters have a fair chance. I came here out of state not knowing anyone, and I got into the house I wanted. I know several girls in gphi who came into recruitment not knowing anyone too. Honestly, don't worry if you're out of state. Just be yourself and don't stress and you'll end up where you want!
