Will money affect my experience?
by: pNmSo I am rushing but my family doesn’t have a lot of money AT ALL, but I’m able to because I have a big scholarship. Will this make my experience any different because I know a lot of girls who do rush do come from families with a lot of money, and I don’t want to seem like the odd one out if that makes any sense.

Money or lack thereof shouldn’t impact your recruitment experience whatsoever, and most sororities don’t care and won’t ask. If they drop little hints about money, that’s a major red flag.
I feel like as long as you’re serious about joining a chapter and fulfilling their financial obligations, you’ll be just fine!

I was in the same place as you! I am able to be in a sorority because I have a part time job and a really great scholarship that also paid for my housing when I was a “live-in”. Some sororities will sniff around if your parents have money or if you have second vacation homes though.
There are SO MANY women in my chapter and in Panhellenic who are also working or help their parents with dues or who are on scholarships! Money should not be in issue at all if you’re in the right sorority. I’m middle class and I am so comfortable in my sorority.

Sororities cost a lot of money and even when they hand you a sheet that lays out all of the costs, that doesn't involve what they'll ask from you for philanthropy weeks if you can't sell the right amount of tickets to an event, or how much a t-shirt will cost for every little event. Or big/little gifts when you get to that point. Quite frankly, there are better organizations at KU to join that are more respectable and don't absolutely drain the bank.
