Hey PNM! Many chapters are actively working internally!! Definitely go through recruitment!

PHA might be lacking and hasn't provided any aid to chapters but ask chapters what they are doing. Many are working on bylaws, updated education, and internal reflection.

Pick your house wisely. Most are going to use buzz words like "working internally" to get you to join and act like they're actually doing anything to further diversity the right way in their org, but really are just adding to classism and racism as it is at KU.

Why is it a sororities place to do all the educating. We can do our best to connect women to the resources and classes but at the end of the day a 21 year old is not the expert. STOP PUTTING IT ON OTHER YOUNG ADULTS TO TEACH EVEN YOUNGER ADULTS. why are you not calling KU our on the issue? Why are you not demanding more from your university.

Yes, sororities want to do better. We want to work to be a solution but you seem to forget “Strip your letters” we don’t know it all. We are waiting to hear from Nationals and the professionals and the educators on the correct ways to teach this. Why do we need to act so quickly we teach the wrong history or the wrong side? Five chapters THE TIME to act and to start the programs they are developing. You all are fast to call people out but are also not the ones giving us the professionals and the capability to teach this to A WHOLE CAMPUS. let’s talk about the numerous pre-professional organizations who are all run by white people and who excuse BIPOC from membership with high dues and their own recruitment problems. This is a campus wide problem and let me tell you every single chapter is 100% trying to do the right thing.

Please PNMs, understand we are doing so much more than you see on Instagram. We are having conversations and we are actively working on our relationships and education levels: don’t let this situation deter you from participating. We want you to join the table and we want you to help us and push us to be better. Hold us accountable but also give us some time and have faith in us. We are still 18-22 year old women.

Please please look at this page!! It is so important to educate yourself about KU greek life before pay thousands of dollars to join an organization! Sorority life can be great but it can also be super detrimental being a part of an organization (PHA) that tends to show less support for the concerns of their members who are not white/skinny/wealthy

People always need something to be offended about

I am pretty sure talking about marginalized communities constitutes being upset about. But go ahead and think the whiteness of our chapters, lack of different body sizes, and inherited privilege offends you. We wont count on you to help PHA learn and grow from our own systemic doings.

Were you aware that DG is no longer giving any preferential treatment to legacies?
Go to their page to get more info, but basically they are saying they want to be more inclusive. Afford the same opportunity to of membership to women who’s mothers and grandmothers may not have had the same access to higher education.
At least they’re trying to do something.

That's great, so is Theta, but one small factor doesn’t change a system.

Are we talking about implicit bias, code switching, matching women due to “likeness” of skin color or size? Are we making the 10 other houses not ADA accessible more accessible outside of just recruitment? Are we amending bylaws to include people who identify as women?

It is a little more than taking away a status but glad its a start.

Dg already has a policy re:transgender.
Anyone who identifies as woman is welcome.
Not a DG but I have an aunt who is.
They are really trying.
Hard to change individuals personal beliefs but to have an organization try to change with the times is awesome.
I hope my house follows.
Sounds like Theta is also trying which is great.

Many/most houses have transgender policies to welcome them as women.
These GDI’s and all their efforts to stir the pot need a hobby.

This group is trying to stop anything that doesn’t agree with them. It is ok to want to be with similar people...we can still embrace and welcome those who are different. Instead of being so negative and stop others from rushing, how about being supportive and trying to educate. Vs intimidate. Very fascist to say “if it doesn’t embrace ME, then no one can enjoy.” Greek life isn’t for everyone. And beauty is beyond skin deep. You do realize you could start a house that is for LBTQ? Other identifiers have done that. This group is just out to tear everything down, a la antifa, if they don’t like it.

What the account does is show you the current state of Panhellenic. If you become upset by the things Panhellenic has done then you can decide if you want to be in a chapter. What being in a chapter in today's day and age means that you are either helping continuing these problems or if you want to change Panhellenic.

definitely agree! you can make change from the inside out, but you have to be aware of the issues first or you will be a part of the system that allows them to continue!

Frankly you lost all credit when you started posting names and personal attacks. This is very one sided and you obviously couldn’t wait until your meeting to see what would happen. Act like adults. If you’re going to ask for a meeting... wait for the meeting. Don’t act like children and scream the loudest because you haven’t gotten your way yet. There’s a process and obviously you couldn’t wait to see it through.
