does instagram matter for sorority recruitment??

by: pnm

so i understand that before recruitment, instagram is sort of a first impression of someone which is fine... but i do notice that lots of girls (esp in the top houses) have a bazillion followers and a really nice aesthetic to their feed. i’m not trying to be superficial, but like if i dont have thousands of followers or like the best pics, will this hurt my chances in any way... ie make me look undesirable to certain houses or will i still have a chance for recruitment???

definetly not!
or at least it SHOULDN’T matter by any means if it’s a house worth your time.
I would just make sure that your feed is “clean” and you take care of any photos you may not want the girls recruiting to see!

I will say, I do know some houses where their recruiting members will look up your Instagram after meeting you and I’m assuming they do make judgements off of it, but also they may do it to just get to know you a little bit better. I know other houses where it’s the opposite and that’s not allowed at all and looked down upon. Either way, people are going to be judging you Instagram and it may have an effect on your house you get in

Yes. The “Top houses” will look you up on IG and likely will make assumptions. Some houses made weird comments about things I’d did and posted about but never talked about in their house. So I KNOW they were looking up where I’d traveled to and what I did. The real houses won’t really care and ours doesn’t even tell chapter women to change much about their own pages.

Real women looking to make real friends understand Instagram is an edited popularity contest.
