current rush 2018 (2022’s)
by: KU mom
Having gone thru rush YEARS ago and with a daughter heading into KU this fall, thought I’d try to gather some information. With 12 houses, how big are the typical pledge classes. This dropping from recruitment worries me, our classes were large but we didn’t really lose people. Just trying to figure out how similar or different things are these days.
Thanks for the insight!!!

Definitely depends on the house. Top houses usually have pretty big pledge classes (60-70) , if not they make sure to offer snap bids to fill their quota. Middle tier houses usually have pretty big pledge classes, around the same size, maybe a little less depending on the year. Bottom tier houses have a tougher time filling their quota, so they extend bids to almost everyone. That's just my general awareness about the sizes, if I’m wrong correct me.

The number of PNM’s in the Recruitment process at Pref round divided by the number of chapters equals Quota. Every chapter can take that number of PNM’s as new Members.
There are very few PNM’s who are dropped by the process...many who “drop” decide to quit because they don’t get invited back to specific top tier houses. If you keep an open mind, odds are very good that you will get a bid!

Thanks for taking the time to reply. I realize rankings are based on who u ask and for me all I want is a good fit for her. Recs and rush... I had 0 and had a great rush with my picks the whole way thru but my best friend who entered with numerous recs had a horrible rush getting cut from my house. In turn, she spent the next 4 years as an honorary member. Who rushes you is equally important as who you rush. When I rushed, recs got u to second stage, period, and then there is the LAGACY FACTOR, which has been tightened up by some schools. My end goal for her is a great group of girls along with that all important social aspect of college life. Any idea how long it takes to actually “live” in the house? They are beautiful! It was a GPA wait to get in house and in some cases girls couldn’t get in until senior year... lots of questions. Thanks!!!
