letters of rec

Seriously try to get Recs. However, they mostly have to be recommendations from KU alum or alumni who are really involved to catch the sorority’s eye. If you truly don’t know anyone but have a recommendation from a notable alum, who, let’s say donates to the sorority or is family friends with current members, that may help you. I knew no one going into rush, but I guarantee my recommendations got me past the first few rounds so I could actually get to know the girls and vice versa.

Letter's don't matter. You could have 50 letters and if the girls doing the recruiting don't want you, or they have a friend from high school they want more than you, you will not get in that house. Doesn't matter who the letter is from. Girls pick their friends, that's it.

I would disagree with this. I had at least 2 or 3 letters of rec for each house, only one letter was from someone at a KU chapter. The other letters were from parent's friends who were in the house or now serve at a national position for that chapter. I highly suggest having at least one letter of rec for every house, mostly because a high majority of houses look at the stuff from the letters and give information to their members so they know who they're talking to before each round. If you don't have a letter, the members will be going off of their first impression which could make your chances of being cut higher.
