It's different for every chapter. Some chapters don't have to do it the whole year and some chapters girls will periodically drop throughout the year. Some chapters that really need to meet quota by a lot will post about it on their insta page! If you went through formal and dropped some will reach out to you to go through informal events/offer you a bid if they still need to fill the quota. You can even reach out to chapters yourself. At the start of the spring semester there's a big COR kickoff that about half the chapters participate in and Panhellenic will post about it! You do have to realize that informal is a lot more competitive bc multiple girls are going for just a few spots!

Some houses are prohibited by their internationals from recruiting except in formal recruitment. Others are required to anytime their allowed by panhellenic. So it's just up to the individual houses. If they are under total (half the houses will be) they have panhellenic's permission, Then it's just up to the house.
