Is it true that AGD is gone? I've heard it was but they recruited so I'm not sure what's true

Internationals released a statement earlier today. Very sad.

Every NPC group wants the best collegiate experience for our members. Unfortunately, Alpha Gamma Delta felt that the chapter could no longer provide that to its members, so it felt that it was in everyone's best interest to close the chapter. It is not because they were bad or did anything wrong. But the Panhellenic community at KU needs to examine how united they really are. When a chapter has to continually COB and cannot meet quota, what kind of stigma has been placed on them by other members of the Greek community?

Every sorority is a great sorority, and we all have, essentially, the same goals and priorities for our collegiate members - to provide opportunities for leadership, academic support and lifelong sisterhood.

If you're part of panhellenic you are the problem. You constantly hold up girls in "top" houses while secretly (or not so secretly) hold other houses down. You encourage exclusivity by allowing houses to strictly socialize with only other houses. You discourage mixing of the houses together so they all get a chance. You have policies in place that assure houses like AGD and SDT will never succeed while the houses with money always have a completely different experience with Greek life.

I 100% agree panhellenic is responsible for the top house bottom house issue.

Totally agree with 'Stop'- I'm from a 'top' house and we NEVER interacted with AGD (not that we weren't allowed but they were never on our radar, if we mix it's with other 'top' houses)
On the flip side I saw that SK had some pre-recruitment workshops with AGD and looked to be helping them out

A sorority is a business as well as a sisterhood, and when you just can't recruit enough members to pay the bills, eventually national has to pull the plug.

On the upside, they're still members in good standing and they can stay active as alumnae.

Fox 4 has an article up that says the chapter was over $100,000 in debt to national.

They are keeping the house open until the end of the school year, so at least they're not throwing them out in the street.

What happens to the girls they just recruited?

I think they have the option to go through informal and choose another house, they don't have to wait a year like in other chapters because their chapter has been closed

Are the members who were living in the house being kicked out right away? Will they get any help in finding somewhere else to live?

How many new members did they get after recruitment?

Sororities failing is on the backs of Panhellenic. Their policies ensure this.

Being un-Panhellenic is bad for a struggling chapter, but ultimately the chapter and their national are responsible for the chapter's survival. If you can't compete, you have to figure out a way to do that.

Well it's kind of hard to compete when you're at an unfair advantage and the deck is stacked against you from day one. Don't act like all the houses get the same opportunities to succeed because that's not true

How was the deck stacked against you? Not trying to be argumentative just trying to know what to watch out for...give specifics
