grades grades grades

I am pretty, caring , have money and popular. My grades are decent close to a 3.0. Why do people say wait to rush? I am open to a top tier house.

Sorry but those are not "decent" grades, if you can't get atleast a 3.0 in high school then that's not a good sign for college.

Not the original poster but I have a 3.4 and was very focused on other things (sports, job) during high school -rarely actually studied - but now I'm ready to focus on college and my future career. I know 3.4 isn't great but it's not bad, right? Should I find a way to explain this? Will interviews give me an opening to talk about this - like, do they ask about grades? Looking back, maybe I should have been more focused on grades but I just wasn't. But I'm more mature now and ready to give college my all.

3.4 gpa has a lot better chance but don't be surprised if you get cut by some of the houses with higher grades (theta, chi o, etc)

Less than 3.0, I would wait to do informal or prepare yourself that you probably won't get a house

Will Gamma Phi or Kappa Kappa Gamma take me with a 2.9? Those are the 2 houses I really want.

how would you know if you really want them yet? I thought I wanted a couple houses before I rushed and I was v wrong. don't expect to love a "top" house without even visiting...the house has to want you too.

So with a 2.9 I just have to get to know some girls in the house? I have a friend mom who wrote me a recommendation letter who was a gamma at KU. That would do it ?

No, you're a grade risk you'd need people in the house to stand up for you and make them believe they really want you. Recs won't do anything.

A friends mom won't help you. A friend currently in the house will. The more friends you have in the house the better. A girl with a low GPA can absolutely get in any house with the right connections (except maybe ChiO) I've seen this happen more than once.
