legacies
by: PnmMy mom was a gphi but not at KU how much of a chance do I have of getting a bid from them? Or how much do they factor in pnm's being legacies?

Good luck! Just be yourself but be sure to let the other houses know that you are going to look at all the houses and decide on your own -- not just follow your legacy. G Phi is one of the most desired houses at KU and they may not have a place for you. If you rely on only wanting that house you may end up getting cut by other houses that think you'll go to your legacy.

being a legacy doesn't guarantee you a bid, but gives you a little advantage over non-legacies. This just means you are required to get asked back for the first invitational round, but after that each chapter has different regulations on dealing with legacies/they look at how you'll fit in with the chapter. I have known plenty of girls who have gotten cut from their moms houses, and ended up finding a house they fit in way better with! but there are still a ton of girls who carry on their moms legacy. I would just keep an open mind during rush and not be too set on your moms house. Gphi is definitely considered a "top house," but join a house with girls that you are like, not girls you want to be like!
