You're a Pi Phi, otherwise I don't think you would think they're better than the top tier of the original list. Pi Phi and Theta compete at a lower level than Chi O, Kappa, and G Phi.

However wrote this is clearly wrong. GPHI will never be top 3 lol. They are more like DG

After 2012 rush, here are the honest rankings (grades included) for the houses.

Top: Chi Omega, Gamma Phi Beta, Kappa Kappa Gamma, Pi Beta Phi, Kappa Alpha Theta.
Middle: Delta Gamma, Kappa Delta, Delta Delta Delta, Sigma Kappa, Alpha Chi Omega.
Bottom: Alpha Delta Pi, Alpha Gamma Delta, Sigma Delta Tau.

These are honest rankings. I guarantee anyone in a sorority or a fraternity would agree with these.

Theta had a terrible rush but they have good grades. They might be moving to middle tier. Chi O, Pi Phi, and GPhi all had fantastic rushes. They aren't going anywhere. Kappa always has confusing pledge classes - glitter and glue. Half are awesome and half are a little on the odd side. They are solid top tier still.

As for the others, they will probably remain middle and bottom tier for a long time.

Couldn't agree more. 100% accurate.

Way to take the time to hash this out for the PNM's. This is the most accurate post regarding the original question. Thanks. :)

I don't see the basis of why you think theta had a bad rush, especially compared to Chi O and G Phi. They had to do informal which means a lot of people in their new member class dropped. As for Kappa, all the girls I've met in their new pledge class are great.

Heres the reality.
Chi O and Gphi both had to do informal this past year, meaning they didn't have enough girls in their pledge class during fall rush. (not a good thing)
SO, if anyone is falling middle tier its Gphi and Chi O but they are still very strong houses and will probably stay this way.
Top Tier: Theta, Kappa, Pi Phi, Chi O, G phi
second tier: DG, KD, Tri Delt, SK, and AXO
Bottom Tier: ADpi, AGD, and Sigma delta Tau

I completely agree. If houses have to do informal it usually means that members of their new class were unsatisfied and dropped. However, Chi O and G Phi are still very good top houses. I agree with your rankings.

The only reason ChiO, and I'm assuming GPhi as well, have to do informal is because our international doesn't count our juniors that leave for nursing school as active members. So, when we have 10 girls leave for nursing school, we need to fill those spots. I guarantee that's what GPhi does. It isn't because they didn't get enough girls in the fall.

You're disturbed if you think Theta is above Gamma Phi Beta or Chi Omega. Theta may be top tier, but they're at the very very bottom.

Sorry, I have to clarify. I heard that this is a website that PNMs sometimes check before going to the University of Kansas and after looking through the site, that saddens me concerning some of the things that are being said. However, I did want to clear some things up. Each year, it seems, more and more girls drop out of recruitment during the week. This is because at the University of Kansas, there is a quota for each pledge class. No pledge class can have more than this quota, but every sorority is GUARANTEED a pledge class. Because there is a large range of how desired each house is during recruitment, this causes a trickle-down effect. Say a PNM preferences a chapter to visit the third day of recruitment, but if the chapter has had high return rates the previous year, they are not allowed to invite as many PNMs.The PNM will be trickled down to a chapter that gets to invite more girls back because they (unfortunately) have a low percentage of PNMs that preferenced wanting to go back. The PNM will become upset because she did not get to go to the chapter she wanted to and drop recruitment. Many PNMs drop for this reason and it causes the pledge class quotas to become smaller. Other schools base pledge class quota on return rate, and while this is a good idea, there are too many chapters and not enough girls going through recruitment to do this. Because of the drop-out rate, experts have come in to redesign our recruitment process.

Cont. The model used in the fall of 2012 was a failure and there was no way to predict that. While it was a good attempt, it caused quite a mess. Many chapters that have never had the issue with reaching a full quota were suddenly experiencing this due to the process, not due to how desired they were. There should not be a stigma on informal rush. The chapters that chose to do it after that recruitment welcomed wonderful girls into their pledge classes. Some chapters had no need to do it, some chose not too, but there was nothing wrong with those that did. No houses (to my knowledge) count nursing students as active members. Perhaps if they are attending at KU med (I'm not sure) but otherwise, a member must be a KU student to be considered an active member. Thankfully, the model for recruitment used in 2013 worked much more successfully. Hopefully the model continues to work. If not, I sadly believe there is not enough interest in recruitment at the University of Kansas for there to be 13 active houses.

All of this aside, Greek Life is an absolutely wonderful way to spend your years at the University of Kansas. I strongly recommend it to anyone. It is a way to find a home at a large school, and a close group of friends who you will forever share something special with. And as far as recruitment goes, no matter what happens it all works out in the end. I know that sounds cheesy, but trust me, it couldn't be more true. Good luck to any future PNMs! And just so you know, don't trust this site because in actuality, the majority of sorority members are friends with many, many girls in other sororities.

It's funny that people are trying to put Chi O and G Phi down for informal rush when the reason they're doing it is because their girls are so successful at getting into professional schools. Sounds like some houses are being a bit dishonest in their attempt to influence PNMs!

Chi O has literally never done informal rush ever....

Awkward cause GPhi only does it to make up for the students who go to nursing school. Nice try though.

Everyone knows both GPhi and Chi O are top tier and not going anywhere soon. The top 5 sororities will stay the top five sororities until something monumental happens.

Whoever said that the ONLY reason to do informal rush is because girls are dissatisfied is grasping at straws. In my experience, girls very rarely drop a house because they're dissatisfied. They know that no one else will pledge them because they're "damaged goods" at that point. The girls that "drop" (actually go to alumna status) are ones moving campuses because they were selected early for professional schools or going to study abroad or something. Nationals requires a certain number of girls so some carefully selected girls we already know and want are invited. I don't know -- maybe her comment is true about lower tier houses, but it certainly isn't true among the upper tier. It's considered an honor when girls are selected for programs that take them off campus early.

I agree girls drop for many reasons and the main one being financial. Some girls will get into a house and then realize "hey I can't afford this." There were a couple girls in my pledge class that dropped and they just did that bc they couldn't really afford it anymore. Also I plan to go to nursing school after my sophomore year and with my chapter I will not drop, I will have an exit status. That just means I am not an active member nor alum, but can come back to be an alum later with my pledge class. Its different for each chapter tho!
