Alpha Phi Alpha - ΑΦΑ Fraternity Ratings at UIC

Hello Alpha Kappa Alpha! My name is David Mahler and I work with Be the Match (www.bethematch.org). I'm writing to you today to see if your organization might be interested in hosting a marrow drive to help save the lives of cancer patients like Asaya. Asaya is one years old and has leukemia. He has been searching for a compatible marrow donor his entire life (See attached flyer for more information on Asaya). Because Asaya is African American, he is having a difficult time finding his match. African Americans only account for 6% of the registry. Asaya's best match will likely be someone who is also African American. Who knows? Maybe Asaya's lifesaving match is a student at UIC right now! 12,000 patients come to us every year in search of their match. This is a simple and great way for your organization to give back and make a real difference in the lives of patients who need your help! Would Alpha Kappa Alpha at UIC be interested in hosting a drive to help save Asaya's life? Its very easy to host a drive; I will bring all the materials necessary, all that you and your organization needs to do is choose a location and a date on campus (anywhere with a lot of people traffic!) and help by volunteering the day of. Joining the registry is very easy - participants only need to complete some paperwork and do a cheek swab.
