I only ranked one house for pref not knowing that it would automatically drop me, is there any way I still have the possibility of getting a bid before initiation if their numbers are low?

Yes, but only if the chapter is doing COB and you have to be invited by a sister. Reach out to a sister you know and ask if they are.
