campus leadershp

i am a young guy in my fraternity that just recently got initiated in the fall last yr. i am really looking into more leadership on campus and was interested on getting on IFC. how hard is it to get on the council, and is being young (gonna be a sophomore) effect my chances alot? no one in my chapter has really ever been on it and i dont know who to ask
