Athletes in Sororities?

My granddaughter is an excellent athlete and is seriously considering VT. Do coaches forbid or at least discourage athletes from joining sororities? The sororities at the school where I’m a chapter advisor certainly accommodate the practice and game schedules of their sisters who are athletes and come out to cheer for them. Thanks!
