Question about srat informal recruitment

Hey! So I will be an incoming freshman next fall at VT and I am really interested in joining a specific sorority. I saw on their Instagram that last fall they did informal recruitment. I know that formal recruitment is at the beginning of the second semester but is there anyway for a freshman to do informal their first fall semester?

No, only sophomores and up can do fall informal.

If you know nothing about VT greek life it’s really immature to focus on just one sorority. That’s part of the reason you can’t do fall.

Ah yes, an incoming freshman that reads this site and believes the self rankings and the status created by anonymous individuals about who is great and who is not. Do yourself a favor and go through the formal process to open your eyes to more than social media posts and fake Instagram pictures.

Can you all calm down it was a simple question and I’m not interested in a specific sorority because of Instagram or greekrank. I want to join a specific sorority because both my mom and my grandma were in it dear god

Hi! First of all, congratulations on your admission! :D
Depending on the sorority, I’d say reach out to them as every sorority does something different. You can also have your mom and grandma fill out a legacy/alumni recommendation for ya!

No, you have to have one semester of grades before you can join a sorority at tech.

I came into college thinking I wanted to be in a specific sorority cause my mom and grandma were in it and completely fell in love with a different chapter. Be opened minded its the only way to find ur true home.
