They quit because it was really expensive to pay for a half full house. Also because of their Balance Man principle. Pledging is the period in which you come to find if a man is worthy of your badge. There is no way in hell you can decide a man is worthy based on a first impression or an application based on high school achievements.

I've personally never heard of them until my second semester at VT. The brothers I've met were pretty weird and the frat's overall campus rep is sub par at best. People that I've met who went to the sig ep house last year said that their parties were horrible because they were just stared at from across the room. Some brothers took pictures of girls they didn’t even know, tbh a bit creepy

"SigEp's Residential Learning Community (RLC) in the Oak Lane development is based on the residential living/learning concept from Oxford, Cambridge and the Ivy League's premier institutions. Its goal is to augment the fraternal experience with an academic focus beyond the classroom. The ideals of the VT's RLC permeate all aspects of the undergraduate experience. For individuals, the benefits include better academic performance, frequent interaction with faculty on a one-to-one basis, and a quality living environment. SigEp’s adoption of alcohol-free rules for the chapter house means that social events with alcohol are going to be hosted off-site, at third-party venues which are more safe and indeed are more fun for brothers than stereotypical fraternity house parties."
