Yes people rush as sophomores, no it won't really hurt your chances.

I rushed as a sophomore! It won’t necessarily hurt your chances, but I believe a few houses do hold sophomores to higher standards GPA-wise so keep that in mind. I was dropped by a lot after open house but I still preffed and accepted a bid! You’ll do great :) I believe a few houses might do informal in the fall too if you’re interested in that!

the only thing that could hurt you is your gpa. i still got a bid from my top choice don’t worry about it its pretty common!

Honestly a lot of the houses will drop you as a sophomore. I rushed as a sophomore and after open house all of the sophomores got dropped from half of the houses. In the end it doesn’t matter because you only need one good house, but don’t be surprised if it happens.

reading these comments I can tell you a lot of the above things are false!! I went through recruitment as a sophomore and had a decent but not amazing GPA (a 3.2) and after open house I only got dropped by 1 house and dropped 2 others. ADPi is known for having a significantly higher sophomore gpa drop but even then if they really really like you they won't drop you for that first round. The advantage as a sophomore is you know people in chapters and you are more confident going in...honestly go in open-minded and you'll be fine

if a house really likes you, they'll keep you whether you're a sophomore or not
