rushing as a sophomore

by:

How hard is it to rush formally as a sophomore? How much does GPA matter, and how high does it have to be for sophomores? What sororities normally do take sophomores? Sorry I have a lot of questions!

It is probs a disadvantage to rush as a sophomore, but not as much as you'd think. My sorority's most recent pc had 11 or so sophomores in a 70ish person pc so it's totally doable! GPA matters maybe a little more than if you were a freshman, but if you have a 3.0 you should probs be okay. I can't really speak for which sororities take more sophmores, but just ask any friends you have in sororities! Good luck!!!

Ok, so this question is difficult to give a definitive answer. It is harder because some houses may use it against you because they will ask you if you rushed last year and why you are rushing as a sophomore, you aren't giving them as much money as a collegiate member( you are paying for 5 semesters vs 7), and also GPA does mean a lot for certain sororities (not all). On the bright side, as a sophomore you may know some other greek women in different chapters and when voting on you after a round they may stand up for you, you may be less nervous and easier to connect/talk to because all of the current members are soph, jun, sen. Also from what I have heard from my chapter: they only look at the last semester GPA NOT overall GPA. But honestly if you were meant to be somewhere it doesn't matter when you rush. Sorority women recruit based on if you have their core values and if you appear to fit in. I rushed formally as a sophomore and I am so glad I did :)

It definitely is harder! when you're a sophomore, they definitely are more selective and look more into your extracurricular activities and GPA. let's be honest. there are some sororities who don't take sophomores- some usually only have like 2 upperclassmen and then boast about them taking a bunch of them. it is harder but still is possible to get into a house you want! just stay open-minded and take account that it is harder!
