recruitment help

by:

First of all, this isn't meant to be a post where people bash other chapters, I just want a real unbiased opinion.

I went through Recruitment and dropped out after pref because I got DG and ZTA.I was cut by the houses I wanted to be preffed by. I thought I just clicked best with AXO/Gamma Phi but I guess not. All my friends said I shouldn't have dropped, but I could care less about "tiers" I just wanted to find somewhere I fit. I was wondering if I should hope for Spring recruitment, rerush competely or join Theta?

Again, please don't be rude, I just advice from people who will tell it like it is rather than a sugar coated answer.

You gave up two chapters that actually wanted you because you didn't get the one YOU wanted? Recruitment is a mutual screening process. "Clicking" with a group is great as a concept, but I think PNMs forget the "which group thinks I fit with them" part. IMO theta would have be more interested in you had you not gone through preference. Your place at pref meant that some other girl who wanted to join didn't get the chance.

You're comment is ridiculous. If you don't like a greek organization and don't think you will be comfortable there then you shouldn't join them just because they want you

I think it was a mistake to turn down two great sororities that felt like you could be a good sister to them. I think Spring recruitment is pretty much over, and Theta already gave bids, sooo...

Formal recruitment is such a bs process I don't blame you at all. Informal is over for the spring semester but you have next year to join a sorority so I wouldn't even worry about it, just join some clubs if youre trying to make friends. In the mean time youre saving a bunch of money haha

I don't understand why people are people nasty on here. She was just looking for some advice. Joining a sorority is an emotional and difficult process. When I got my 3 sororities back for preference I was not thrilled and wanted to drop as well. But I told myself I was going to stick it out, accept my bid, and see how it went. In all honestly, all 13 sororities here are great and it's basically all the same thing. You will go to date parties, have socials, get a big, take a little, do philanthropies and find a great friend group within the sorority: you will find all of those things no matter which one you join! I am so happy I stuck it out, involved myself in my sorority, and now I am happier than ever! I would definitely either do informal in the fall (most chapters won't know if they're doing it until the beginning of fall semester based on how many girls drop this semester and how many girls graduate) or do formal in the spring again! Don't listen to the nasty and mean comments on here. I think you have a great shot at getting into a sorority the next time around and maybe you will end up in AXO or GPHI! Good luck and I hope that was helpful!

Such a mistake dropping... DG and ZTA are wonderful and prestigious organizations with great girls who have so much to offer. If you didn't get the sororities you wanted back it's because they didn't want you. You should have focused on the ones that did. You just have to wait until next year I guess...

The Recruitment process is all bull shazzy. I would know because I dropped my sorority. Best decision ever. So must "trust the sister" bs thats all superficial. A girl you love doesnt come back the next night because one sister gave her a bad score. Whatever. anyway, you can still get all the perks of being in Greek life without being in a sorority. Just get close with a Fraternity. You'll meet amazing people, have fun, still get involved with philanthropy and save a ton of money. Just something to consider...you don't HAVE to join a sorority.

I find it VERY hard to believe you got preffed by DG and ZTA and got cut by AXO and Gamma Phi...BULL!!!!! This is so made up it's pathetic.

I dont find this hard to believe at all. Everyones recruitment process is different. There are plenty of girls who go through that get a variety of schedules back. EVERY house has to cut women, even ones that don't have the best retention rates, so these results are very possible.

As a rho gamma this is not an uncommon situation; recruitment is different for everyone.

As someone who went through formal recruitment freshman year, joined a chapter and dropped it before initiation, rushed again and joined one of the 2 chapters you went to pref with I would say in the end you should do what you feel works best for you but also try to remember that you got invited back to those houses because those girls liked something they saw in you. It also doesn't do you an good to look back and think what if at this point because all recruitment for the semester is over, but I would use the rest of the semester to continue to make friends and get involved and if by next fall or spring you still want to join greek life I totally encourage you to rush again. Good luck!
