Usually it is determined during the first week of school and most chapters will hold an informal recruitment if they are doing it within the first 2 to 3 weeks. Typically most sororities only need 1-3 girls to meet quota so they ask existing members to refer girls they think would fit in the chapter. Some sororities send out an email if you are on the Greek listerv (I think that's what it's called)
