rushing as a junior??

So I've wanted to rush a sorority for a while but I haven't been able to afford it until now. Unfortunately, i made some bad decisions my freshman year that led me to choose a major that was way too hard for me. I am now coming back to tech after a semester of academic probation. Someone told me that as a junior your gpa isn't counted in rush anymore. Should I even attempt to rush informal in the fall or do I have no chance of being accepted into a sorority because of my really bad grades? Thanks!

Honestly I would talk to someone in the sorority you want to rush about this before committing
