pnm advice

by: PLEASE READ

Hey if any of you all have been on this site please read this before signing up for rush

1) Don't try looking for a sorority here that doesn't have some sort of negative social stigma. Every single one of them here has one so that is something you cannot avoid.

2) Don't drop a house just because you know a girl or talked to a girl that you don't have a good opinion of or have issues with. She's literally one person out of a group of 200.

3) Take all the sorority rankings on this website with a grain of salt. The discussion page is just filled with girls tearing each other down or trying to stay on top.

4) Don't drop out of rush just because the houses you are getting back are not ones you originally really wanted. I know so many people kicking themselves now for not continuing because those same sororities took in some of their friends.

5) Don't suicide. Just don't do it. It honestly does you no good.

6) Come bid day and the house you get isn't your first choice or one you were hoping you wouldn't get, I highly advise that you still take the bid. You will have a much better picture of what the sorority is like and the vibe of the girls during the new member period than just through the 165 minutes you shared with them during rush.

7) If your only reason as to why you don't like a house is because of looks and popularity, I recommend that you don't rush and find other activities to get involved in.

I agree originally I went into rush only wanting a top tier house. However when it came to pref I preffed two middle and one top. I am in a middle tier sorority now and couldn't be happier so I would recommend keeping an open mind!

For those of you who feel that you need to be in a "top tier" remember no one outside Greek life cares about how hot or popular your sorority is. Go into rush trying to find the sorority that has a respectable image that you want to be a part of and portray to the whole campus not just to the "hot frats". As much as an individual you think you are, the type of organization you join is everyone's first impression of where your morals and standards lie so look carefully and join a group that matches that. If not, few years down the line you may find yourself doing things that you don't like and engaging in behaviors that aren't true to your identity.
