The article states......A University of Connecticut fraternity that held two parties while under probation has lost the university's recognition and with it all rights and privileges for at least the next four years.

Pi Kappa Alpha was already on probation for its alleged participation in a dispute last fall at the university's "spirit rock" when it held two parties in November with alcohol present, in violation of university rules and the fraternity's probation, according to the university.

"UConn's zero-tolerance approach to behaviors that endanger others is emphasized clearly and consistently to all student leaders in Greek life and other organizations," UConn spokeswoman Stephanie Reitz said in a statement. "Fraternities, sororities, and other organizations play a vital and valuable role in the life of a great university — but UConn will not accept endangering behavior or flouting of the rules by anyone, under any circumstances."

Members of Pi Kappa Alpha (known as PIKE), could not be reached for comment Monday. The fraternity does not have a house, Reitz said.

A letter dated March 13 from Joseph P. Briody, UConn's associate director for student activities, said the fraternity was found responsible for hazing, engaging in dangerous behavior, and making alcohol available to underage people.
