pros v cons
by: Bleed BlueI'm looking to rush in the Spring (fraternities) and I was wondering what the pros v cons are of them all. I guess include connections, reputations, brotherhood, etc.

It really depends on where you fit in best but might as well go in alphabetical order
ADP - Newish to campus. Have First and Second House but only throw down at Second, which is a really small house. Overall good guys but a mixed bag.
AEPi - Have Casa, known for really good day drinks. Has good relations with sororities, a lot of good parties.
AKL - Brand new and irrelevant until they do something
Beta - Considered the "academic" fraternity, really really mixed bag but really nice guys. Doesn't have parties often at all.
Kappa Sigma - huge fraternity and gets a lot of flack for members not knowing each other well. Has Blue house and some other off campus houses, good sorority relations and parties.
FIJI - New. Has Duck and Coliseum, been throwing down a lot lately but they're new so they don't have the sorority relations older ones have. Overall good guys
Pike - Top house still recognized by the university. Great sorority relations, has a reputation for being kinda meat heads but overall good guys.
SAE - off campus, most likely still pledging underground. Was in the top 3.
Sig Chi - off campus but still recognized by their Nationals. Was also a top 3. Known for being the stereotypical "frat".
TKE - throws down constantly, has a lot of off campus houses. Kinda weird guys
ZBT - Lost Coliseum to FIJI but they apparently have another off campus house. Don't really get out there much but overall good guys.

ADP: Cool group of guys. Not really well known around campus and can get a bad rep, but overall they are great dudes. Strong brotherhood. Lots of potential.
AEPi: Becoming one of the top dogs on campus. Great day drinks. But with the recent suspensions, they have seemed to think that they are better than they actually are.
AKL: Don't rush AKL
Beta: Very random group of guys, but they are all extremely nice. Known for the grades, and they rarely throw down.
Kappa Sigma: Took a step back with last years fall pledge class, but seemed to have recovered nicely this year. Fun parties, but if you rush you should remember that it's harder to have a strong brotherhood in such a large group.
FIJI: Strange group of guys. Throw down a good amount, but have a ways to go before they impress anyone.
PIKE: Top on campus, but running into trouble as of late. A lot of really cool guys. Good relations.
SAE: Used to be one of the best, but they are in huge trouble. Will be irrelevant within 2 years.
Sigma Chi: Great guys. Although they all seem to kind of conform to the same person. Girls love them and they throw great parties.
TKE: They are hit or miss. A lot of awesome guys, but also a decent amount of guys that are weird and creepy. Throw down more than anyone else. They have potential.
ZBT: Ran into trouble a few years back, but have been recovering nicely. A lot of great guys, have a lot of potential.

This past semester there have been a lot of changes in the rankings.
TOP TIER
1.) Pike has established themselves as top house. It looks like they are steering clear of trouble, which is good for the entire Greek community.
2.) AEPi has not changed much. Still a very solid fraternity.
3.) Kappa Sig has taken a step back in my opinion. They get laughed at by other fraternities because of their lack of brotherhood. Quality over quantity boys. But then again the girls still like them.
UPPER MIDDLE TIER
4.) TKE has taken a step forward. They have always had potential and they are finally reaching it. Finally working their way into the social scene. A lot of young guys have started to turn this fraternity around.
LOWER MIDDLE TIER
5.) ZBT has taken a big step forward. Great brotherhood. Excited to see what they can do in the next few years.
6.) ADP has a great pledge class, but they really need to get their name out there.
BOTTOM TIER
7.) Beta is just the usual. Killing the library game, but hey they'll make more money than us upon graduation.
IRRELEVANT
8.) AKL is the same level of irrelevance it was last year.
9.) SAM is... I don't even know.
10.) Sip Ep... I heard they were coming, if they have arrived then I am not aware.
11.) Rest
Off-Campus
Sig Chi is doing a great job of remaining relevant while being off campus.
SAE on the other hand... not looking good. They are losing a ton of seniors and their most recent pledge class is awful.

Honestly I wouldn't rush an off campus fraternity... they can't participate in anything really and won't be relevant until their ban in lifted. The ones still on campus will always have the best rush and will become much better in these coming years so they are the place to go
