How does the "no pledging" process actually work? I'd like to join a fraternity and become a leader to create positive changes, but my mom doesn't want to me to be a pledge and be hazed. Which frat is the better choice? I have a good GPA and extra curriculars.

If you really don't want to be hazed at all, join one of the softer, smaller fraternities. That being said, you should want a fraternity that makes you work for your place in the house. There is a reason to the madness, if it was simply torture there would be no reason for the top houses to consistently do what they do - they wouldn't have any retention. Bless your moms heart for looking out for you but you should start preparing now by wearing a vodka soaked tampon in your rump at all times, and you should start training to fight, as the pledge process is primarily an underground fight club, with more alcohol poisoning

SigEp exists to develop men that are different from the norm, creating a Balanced leader in both mind and body. Through a 4 year continuous development Balanced Man Program that includes 4 specific challenges, knowledge of the sound mind/sound body principles and multiple leadership opportunities, brothers inspire accountability to reach the maximum potential of each member.

SAE has pledging, but its a very short period. SigEp has instant brotherhood as soon as the bid is accepted and the payment for initiation clears.

How much does brotherhood cost? If it's not too much I might want to pay for it to add it to my resume.

To accept a bid, it is $275 but then you are instantly considered a full brother. If you change your mind within 30 days and want to leave, then you can ask for a refund. It's like buying a shirt at Target.

How does "Balanced Man" compare to the "True Gentleman" program?

SAE is more demanding. SigEp is softer.
