I'm really looking for a sorority to join but how am i supposed to know which is the best when everyone is saying petty things.

go through recruitment without any assumptions. Don't take anyone's advice, because they all have an agenda by telling you something. Follow your gut feeling. The 'best' house is the one you feel most comfortable BEING YOURSELF. You'll come to find that if you choose a house based on everyone else's opinions that doesn't fit you, you'll be miserable and want to drop. And with so many fabulous houses at CU, that just isn't necessary! Good luck during recruitment :)
