rushing from out of state
by: JillI'm from Texas and planning on rushing fall 2016. I'm a triple legacy chi o and really want to be a chi o if it's the right fit for me. Will it be kinda impossible to get a bid if I don't know anybody in the sorority and I'm not from Colorado? What can I do to improve my chances in the selection process?

Everyone has a fair chance during rush. The only thing being a legacy will do is making you more known to the girls in the house. No one has an advantage over anyone during rush! You just trust the system & everything will work out. Don't stress! They will know you are a legacy! Most girls are out of state and don't have a sorority history in their family. It is a fair process. Just trust the system girly, you will end up in the house that fits you the best!

I came in from out of state, Texas actually! I rushed as a legacy and did not join my legacy house. I'm very happy where I ended up! I'm not going to say that rushing here isn't selective, less than a third of PNM's get bids and things like rec letters also aren't big here. It's really about being very open to the process and to just trust that in the end you will find the house you are meant to be in! As I am not a ChiO I do not know their policy on legacies, it is not like UT when legacies get a free pass onto pref. In my chapter we are strongly encouraged to keep legacies through at least one round so I would guess their policy is closer to that. But honestly girl, just go in with an open mind and be your self! We are just as excited to meet you as you are to meet us! Have fun at recruitment!
