transferring

by: jules

I am transferring from a school in California, and I will be a sophomore next year. I really want to join greek life at CU, so is it easy to get in as a sophomore/which ones have down to earth girls?

It's much easier to rush as a sophomore because the GPA requirements are significantly lower. Every house is different but Theta has a reputation for "down to earth" girls, however they require a high GPA just a heads up. Chi-O is great I have a lot of friends in there, AXO, Tri Delts, and Kappas have nice girls too. Honestly I just finished rush and you will get a feel for which house you'll like. Its stressful, but worth it in the end. Oh and DO NOT believe all the nasty rumors people say on here, the people who bash other houses arent even apart of Greek life. Good luck!

this girl has no idea what she's talking about. its much harder to rush as a sophomore because sophomore year is when you live in the house and sororities are looking for more money.

I just finished recruitment as a sophomore transfer and I did find my home! But, I will say that it is more difficult as a sophomore. Firstly, because they base it off your college GPA rather than your high school one. Secondly, while everyone will be very nice to you and will make you feel welcome, some houses are just not in the market for sophomores. You cant take that really personally, there are just some houses that would rather not take sophomores if they don't have to (Sophomores mean a year less that you could give to the house, less dues and that you probably aren't going to be willing to live in the house).

You should totally do it! It was an emotional roller coaster for me but it was also totally worth it. Just do like panhel says, trust the system.
