AXO Bid Promising
by: bid promiseI know a lot of girls who claimed to be bid promised by AXO and I was one of them. Had them on my schedule every day and they kept telling me I was meant to be in Alpha Chi and that they were excited to see me the next day. Bid day comes and I get back Tri-Delt. I was so upset I just ended up dropping. Anybody know if they got in trouble for this? It’s not fair to PNMs. I should’ve just suicide bidded.

Axo uses a strategy where they use phrases like “I feel” or “I hope”. This means if a girl tells you “I hope to see you tomorrow” that doesn’t mean she’s saying you will be back tomorrow or that you’re getting a bid, it means that she (individually) hopes to see you. If someone says “I feel like you’re meant to be an alpha chi” it still isn’t technically bid promising because they are speaking from an individual standpoint. If they did say something like “I will see you tomorrow” or “you are meant to be an alpha chi” that would be different because that’s saying the chapter as a whole is choosing you. Axo is known to do this and isn’t “illegal”, but it is very misleading to pnms when they don’t understand what the terminology actually means

agree, now that AXO is a sought after chapter they need to change their language to avoid this happening next year.

this happened to me at another house (not axo). I reported to my rho gamma and panhel and they said it’s not bid promising. Just because you are on a chapters bid list doesn’t mean you will get a bid. I guess not many chapters went all the way thru their bid lists. If they said something like “we can’t wait to see you tomorrow at axo’s bid day!” that could be considered bid promising.

Yep I had multiple girls and a handful of houses say these similar things to me, including the house I ended up in. Panhellenic was very firm with us that bid promising wasn’t going to happen and they really reiterated multiple times and in multiple ways, in the intro meeting, rho gams and some of the paperwork/admin stuff.
I feel bad for OP for not getting the bid she wanted, I didn’t either, but it was very obvious as a pnm that no house was going to bid promise. I’m sure she got her hopes up and really liked AXO and that’s why she took what they said and ran with it especially since her other house was tri delt. I got my #2 pref house too but I gave them a chance and still love it, it really is all about trust the process but they made if very clear to us what the rules were.

i heard axo had a huge pc this year because so many pnm’s listed them as their 1st choice so they were forced to take girls over and above quote since panhel promised pnm’s that they were guranteed a bid if they maximized potential (pref’d two house and listed both). I think that’s how they ended up with over 180 new members. Because of the way everything played out a lot of girls that listed axo as their first choice didn’t get them and got their second choice instead.

i feel like they’ve gotta fix this next year… it’s drilled into us during work week to not do this and our exec basically says if there’s any room for interpretation we’re going to get in trouble with panhel. axo might’ve not had issues w this like 2 years ago when they were bottom/mid but if girls starting to love them and put them as #1 on pref it’s going to cause sad pnms :/
