what being in a low tier or top tier sorority means
by: advice
i wanted to make this post to highlight how boulder is different but also similar to greek life at other schools because when i joined I was a little confused- i’m about to be a senior and wish someone would have told me this when i rushed
do ranks matter at cu? yes, but not as much as at other schools. all the sororities here are for the most part good, and you can make your experience in each one what you make it. however, there is a reality that being in higher tier somewhat affects your social life. the higher ranked your sorority is the more frats will put you in group chats and invite you to parties. these parties aren’t exclusively for upper tier sororities/frats (unless it’s a mixer) but upper tier sororities def get more invitations to random parties IN MOST CASES. bottom sororities do not receive as many invitations to parties and mixers in general, idk if this has changed but i had friends in bottom tier sororities who didn’t rlly have mixers freshman year. however, girls in mid to low sororities still can come to any party as long as they know about it from a friend in a top tier sorority or word of mouth.
this system is still different from other schools, people usually won’t judge you for your tier of sorority as long as you’re chill but it does happen. a lot of my top tier friends did get more attention from guys when they knew their sorority however. overall, none of this actually matters because being in a sorority is a lot more than just parties and what boys think of you, but i would have wanted to know this coming into school at CU. trust the process and sko buffs!
