message to sororities
by: DisgustedDo you realize how shallow that the majority of these posts are, if a pnm can pay dues why does it matter how much money her family has or how expensive her clothes are. I applied here and was planning to rush next fall but these materialistic responses all make me not want to. Who are you people to judge someone when you don't know their entire story, I mean seriously some of these responses are absolutely repulsive. You just confirm the reasons many people are anti-greek. Get off your high horse and realize that there are bigger issues than someone not wearing thousand dollar outfits.

sororities are very materialistic and if you don’t like that, I’d advise against rushing. Recruitment is just being judged and trust me they do not know your entire story. They know what you post on social media and your high school grades and that’s it. The rest is based on appearance, what you’re wearing, and the tiny bit of your personality that you can show each girl in 5 minutes before bumping starts. Money is what runs sororities so if you can barely pay dues, you won’t be selected as you will be taking a spot from someone who can pay. Keep in mind that the first year of being in a sorority costs anywhere from $2000-$2500 and living in can be up to $13,000. Many girls think that’s doable until their parents realize that tuition, sorority, and other expenses are too much thus causing girls to drop. Anytime a girl drops, a sorority has a vacancy and that’s losing it money.

it sucks but at the end of the day sororities are a business. girls aren't expected to wear thousand dollar outfits, which you would know if you actually read responses on recent posts. and as long as websites like this exist and ppl judge every girl in a house by individual members sororities are going to make shallow judgements of new members.
