advice for freshmen

I knew a girl in a top house (won't say which one) who said "I don't really like being in XYZ, but I like telling people I'm in XYZ". Joining a house to boost your reputation is unfair to yourself, and the other girls in the house. You're pretty much saying you don't care about the house's values or it's sisterhood and your using their letters to boost your own reputation, which honestly doesn't matter because as soon as rush ends people don't care about ranks. Most people who rush for superficial reasons end up dropping anyway or don't have a lot of friends by the end. Be fair to yourself and the girls in each house, and rush for the right reasons.
