How important is it compared to other colleges and will I have more fun in or out of a frat

Honestly, it depends on what kind of person you are. If you don't like to go to chapter, philanthropy events, and other required stuff it might not be a good pay off. I know people outside of greek life who have about the same amount of fun as people in greek life
